Terms of use
Last updated: 20 October 2026
These terms apply to the WhatScribe browser extension, the WhatScribe API and this website (together, "WhatScribe"), provided from Sweden ("we"). By installing or using WhatScribe you agree to them.
What WhatScribe is
WhatScribe is a browser extension for WhatsApp Web that transcribes voice messages and videos you choose, and shows the text in the chat. It is an early product in beta: features may change and things may not always work.
Not affiliated with WhatsApp
WhatScribe is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by WhatsApp or Meta. WhatsApp is a trademark of Meta Platforms, Inc. You remain bound by WhatsApp's own terms when you use WhatsApp Web.
Depends on WhatsApp Web
WhatScribe works with WhatsApp Web's internal workings through the open-source WA-JS library. WhatsApp can change these at any time without notice, which can make WhatScribe stop working, fully or partly, until it is updated. This usually takes a day or two but we cannot guarantee it, and we are not responsible for such interruptions.
Your content and responsibility
- You choose which messages to transcribe. You are responsible for having the right to do so, including where the messages contain other people's voices or personal data, and for how you use the transcripts.
- Transcripts are generated automatically and can contain mistakes. Do not rely on them where accuracy is critical without checking the original audio.
- Don't use WhatScribe for anything unlawful, to harass anyone, or to try to break, overload or reverse-engineer the WhatScribe API.
Plans, minutes and fair use
- The free trial includes 15 minutes of transcription in total, once per email, and messages up to 5 minutes. Free trials share a monthly budget; when it is used up, trials pause until the next month.
- Pro (€4.99 per month) includes 300 minutes per billing period and messages up to 15 minutes. Max (€9.99 per month) includes 1,000 minutes per billing period and messages up to 30 minutes.
- Minutes reset when a billing period is paid. Unused minutes don't carry over.
- Your plan belongs to your email address. Don't share your account or resell access to it. We may suspend accounts that are used in breach of these terms or in ways that harm the service.
Subscriptions, payments and refunds
Subscriptions are sold through Stripe's checkout, where Link is the seller and merchant of record, and their terms apply to the purchase. Prices include VAT and renew monthly until you cancel. You can cancel anytime from Manage subscription in the extension popup, or at link.com; your plan then runs until the end of the period you have paid for. Refunds are handled under Link's and Stripe's refund policies. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are not affected.
The service is provided as is
WhatScribe is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for WhatScribe in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Changes and ending
We may change these terms or the service. For significant changes we will tell you in advance in the extension or by email. You can stop using WhatScribe at any time by cancelling and uninstalling the extension. We may stop offering WhatScribe; if we do, we will stop billing and give notice where we can.
Governing law
These terms are governed by Swedish law. Disputes are settled by Swedish courts, but if you are a consumer you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live.
